Archie Turner grew up in North-East England and attended a state comprehensive school before arriving in Oxford in 2021 to study a BA in Modern Languages (French and German). He is heading into his final year and will offer a dissertation on Franz Kafka, in which he will use the concept of ‘cultural schizophrenia’ as a new way of understanding the relationship between the writer’s work and historical context.
In his time at Oxford so far, Archie has also been involved in various student representation positions, most notably in his second year as the JCR President of Lincoln College. As a student with multiple disabilities himself, he understands the importance of inclusive practice in educational and professional environments. He is excited to be part of the 2024 internship project and to work with and learn from the other interns while gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges that disabled students face at the University.
Outside of his degree and work, Archie has been an award-winning poet and highly commended essayist, and enjoys singing, reading and sport.
