Originally from Australia, Carmelo is currently completing his BA in English Language and Literature at St Hugh's College.
He's currently completing his dissertation – a project about linguistic epistemology in contemporary literature. As an Australian studying an often euro-centric discipline, he also wants to acknowledge diversity of perspective both in literature and in general.
During his time at Oxford, he has been actively involved in access and JCR initiatives at St Hugh's, with the aim of bridging the gap between students and career resources. Carmelo strives to maximise the student experience and the benefits they gain from the university and hopes to develop these goals through the internship. Carmelo is committed to researching the most effective ways people learn with a focus on how language influences reader response – a topic he is considering studying at postgraduate level.
In his spare time, he enjoys reading, playing cello, and watching football.
